A gossipy biography with a bad vibe

This will be a lightning review because this weird book has been out of my library for some decades. This is Peter Sellers' son Michael describing what an unhinged, insane bastard his father was--pretty straightforward. Though Michael doesn't really seem hateful toward his father, this book is a revelation about the stormy life they shared. Michael seems to be fighting the fight I have seen in many abused children as adults.
One part of the person analyzes and picks at the abusive parent while the other part of the person tries to salvage some parental love by justifying every abusive moment. This book is so gossipy, so blatant and occasionally meanspirited that I have always questioned whether Michael is telling the truth ... and if he is I sometimes question whether he actually wrote it. The thing just has a vibe to it I have never liked, but I suppose it is because I had a loving father who also happened to be abusive as hell.
Anyone interested really should read this. I'm tempted to put it on my wish list.
