Good ideas for kids' parties!

There are 5 party examples in the book with ideas on invitations, decorations, food & drink, crafts & games. There are pictures and quotes from the book throughout. There are sketches of each of the Friends in the back of the book which could be used for games or decorations. One party is for Easter and gives recipes to make homemade dyes. Cute book although a bit old-fashioned.

Clever, Low-Tech Pooh Fun!

This clever book has inventive ideas for seasonal and birthday parties, with recipes and crafts for each one. The games are old-fashioned, with Pooh versions of "Take a Giant Step" and others, and the decorations may be time-consuming to make, but they add great touches to the parties, with ideas for party favors. If you want to pick and choose factors from all the parties, combining them into something more your own style, that's fine, too--I plan to have the centerpiece from "Eeyore's Birthday Party", and the breadplate sandwiches and Black Cloud Honey Cake from some of the others. The author put some real thought into this book...Imagine making tea, dessert sauce, and Easter-egg dyes from violet blossoms! I'd get violets from a florist just to do those, if I could! The recipes do use honey, natch, and look yummy, such as Butter Bear Cookies, with a touch of the golden stuff. The crafts may seem "square", but I strongly feel that they are a welcome alternative to the whiz-bang, high-tech diversions so many kids' parties rely on these days. What's wrong with low-tech fun?! I think kids would feel accomplishment and pride over completing one or two of the crafts, and get a pretty cool souvenir, too. Any party can have just goodie bags...If kids nowadays are so jaded that they can't enjoy old-time games and crafts, something ain't right. Incidentally, the images of Pooh and his friends "for tracing" would yield excellent results with today's computer scanners, I believe, if you have one. Quotes and sketches from the Pooh books add charm to the ideas. All in all, a nice, hands-on party book.

I never received my copy in the mail but the seller reimbursed me fully. It is really a sweet little book, I will try to order it again.
