This is a BEAUTIFUL book

My son is in to the -ology books, Dragonology, Egyptology, well this book was bought in that vein by my grandmother for my 2 year old daughter.
This book has all the hidden treasures of any of the -ology books. It has minibooks, slide out items, windows to open and plenty of extras.
Everything from how to dress to what to serve at a royal ball is included her for the use of any Princess in the making.
My daughter may only be 2 but she is truely a little Princess in training.
She loves the pictures and all of the interactive bits.
I feel for any young Prince in her future (her distant, DISTANT future) as she will be well versed in her ways:)

Great gift for a little girl

My almost-5-year-old niece adores everything princess, so I bought this along with "Fairyology" for her birthday, as well as "Fancy Nancy" and "Pinkalicious." This book is her favorite of all of them. She sits and makes up stories based on the things in the pictures, and tells them to her parents!
I have to agree to some extent with the other reviewer, regarding the "shallowness" of some of the things in the book. I would have loved to see more about learning how to be responsible and a good leader..but it's a bit difficult to work that sort of thing into this type of format. My niece adores the flip-dresses, and the different jewels and things, and let's face it, that's the appeal of the whole princess thing anyway! And at least there are some bits and pieces about manners and politeness.
If you're looking for something fun to entertain your little girl who likes princesses, then this is a great book that can really stimulate some creativity. If you're looking for something to teach life lessons, then you might want to look elsewhere.

Nicely Showy, Emphasizing Fluffier Aspects of Being A Princess

THE SET-UP: Written as an informational guide from the perspective of a retiring fairy godmother, it is meant as a handbook for princesses everywhere on how to look, act, and dress the part of a princess. The book is nicely illustrated and each "princess lesson" is a two-page spread from the basics of attending the ball to a royal wedding. There are small envelops inside with invitations to balls and weddings. There are also flaps to lift, such as the page on the princess's palace, which features lifting flaps to peek inside the walls. It also contains two mini fairy tales.
WHY I CHOSE THIS BOOK: As an adult who enjoys reading the occasional fairy tale, I was lured into purchasing this book for myself by its attractive and interesting looking pages as well as the fact that I was able to purchase it at the time for Amazon's bargain price of $4.00.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK: A charming book, but one without much substance. One nice thing is a page on Princesses from different lands that shows pretty illustrations of a Japanese princess, an African one, a Pacific Islander one, etc. However, the main princess featured on most every page is of the stereotypically blond, European variety. Ironically, while this book tries to stress that it is a girl's inner beauty that counts most in being a princess, the overall emphasis is on the outer accouterments that have everything to do with beautiful dresses and royal wealth.
HOW GOOD A READ IS IT? While the language of this book is targeted toward older children (10 years), the age group to whom this will probably most appeal is a couple of years younger, although I dare say that as a 10 year-old, I would have liked to have had seen this book simply because it is so nice looking and fun.
