Now that she is old enough to be out on the rooftops, they will be together all night long. But when Peep arrives, she doesn't want to hear Hoot's guidance. She wants to sing in her own style, not say "Hooooo" like Hoot thinks she should. Since they can't agree on a right way, the owlets separately sing their songs. Eventually they both realize that something is missing in their glorious night-their siblings. The story is gentle and sweet and celebrates being siblings and individuals. Judge's text is poetic and has a little fun to it, too. Peep's way of singing toward the night includes several amusing-to-make sounds. And the illustrations are glorious. Created in a palette of blues, the panels are moody and atmospheric. Rooftops shine in the glowing moonlight, and Hoot and Peep stand out in golds and browns. About the Author
Lita Judge is the author/illustrator of over a dozen picture books, including the modern classic Red Sled, the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Medal winner Born to Be Giants, and the IRA Children’s Book Award winner One Thousand Tracings. Lita lives with her husband, two cats, and a little green parrot named Beatrix Potter in Peterborough, New Hampshire.

A beutifully illustrated book with a great story.

I absolutely adore this book! There is not one thing about it that I don’t love. The illustrations are perfection. They simply are beautiful. Not to mention the way that they move the story forward. Then you have the story itself. It is so endearing. The idea that we can all learn from each other no matter what our age by using the older brother and the younger sister dynamic, is right on point. The book celebrates embracing new ideas and learning to appreciate all those around us.
This book is a gem. It is one that should be on every shelf and read to as many children as possible, so that we all sing a little schweeepty peep ditty together!

Sweet book

This is such a great story and perfect for siblings. It shows that even though they may find different ways to do the same task, it doesn't make one wrong and one right. This sweet and beautifully illustrated book is perfect for all ages.

A sweet story with adorable illustrations. Hoot is excited to teach his young sister the ropes of being an Owl. For example, Owls don't make any other noises except for Hooo! Something Peep doesn't understand. She doesn't want to just say Hooo. She wants to make sounds like the magical world around them makes.
Readers will enjoy learning the sites and sounds of Paris at night time, as young Peep flies through the night learning and discovering all the sounds the city offers. Peep teaches her older brother that sometimes it's okay to do things differently. She also teaches him that magic can be found if only we take a moment and listen to all that's going on around us.
This is a great story about listening, unconditional love, and realizing it's okay to do things differently than others. With it's sweet story and adorable illustrations, readers will fall in love with Hoot and Peep! This book makes the perfect bed time story!
